Who doesn’t love Whit? Odyssey would not be the same without him! :D

  • noah on June 18th, 2009 - 9:18pm

Yeah. Whit’s great. I like Paul Herlinger MUCH better than Hal Smith. He just has a better voice, I think.

Trivia: Paul’s first appearance: “Search for Whit”, Paul’s last appearance (to date; not counting Truth Chronicles): “The Imagination Station, Revisited”

  • noah on June 18th, 2009 - 9:20pm

    More Trivia:

The original actor of Whit (Hal Smith) died, and the Odyssey team didn’t know what to do. SO, they sent Eugene and Bernard on a road trip while they figured out what to do. When Eugene and Bernard got back, Whit had left for the middle east. You hear some brief clips of Whit in this episode and phone messages and stuff. These are past things Whit has said in previous episodes. When they found a replacement actor (Paul Herlinger), they brought him back in “Search for Whit.”

    Here we go!

  • liad on March 28th, 2013 - 5:17pm

    @ Mikah~ Ya on here?

  • mikah on April 1st, 2013 - 8:13am

@ LIAD~ Yes! Should we start on storyline?

  • liad on April 1st, 2013 - 4:49pm

@ Mikah~ Yep! I’ve been brainstorming about some plots and here are a few:

    - Two girl spies(I guess this doesn’t exactly count as fantasy, but there you go!)
    - A tale about good ol’ superheros and supervillains.
    - World-jumping book characters( Sound familiar?)

Do you have any ideas? I think we should have two main characters. You make up one, I make up the other. How’s that???

    ~ Lost in a Dream/Winnow~

  • mikah on April 2nd, 2013 - 8:42am

    @ LIAD
I think the supervillains and superheroes one sounds good. But with a twist say a fantasy not necessarily in a town. What do you think? Yeah I like the idea of two main characters. Were you thinking two girls, boy and a girl or two boys?

  • liad on April 2nd, 2013 - 3:38pm

@ Mikah~ How ’bout two girls?

  • MIKAH on April 2nd, 2013 - 5:07pm

    @ LIAD
Sounds good to me. How about for ages, one could be thirteen and the other fifteen?

  • liad on April 3rd, 2013 - 5:53pm

@ Mikah~ I’ve been thinking about this, and I think we should each make up a main character. We each make up our characters’ personalities and superpowers. Just a thought.
My main character would be 15, and called Wyoming Edmont, I think.

  • mikah on April 4th, 2013 - 8:32am

    @ LIAD
I really like that name! My name will be Camilla Andres. She will be fourteen and has red burgundy hair color that is always in a side braid. Heer super power will be determined later. What do you think?

  • liad on April 4th, 2013 - 4:16pm

@ Mikah~ That’s great! I was wondering whether the setting should be on earth. And if it is, I think it should be in good ol’ New York City. Y’know, like in Megamind.

Wyoming has long black curly hair. She has a journalist sister and a spoiled stepsister. Her dad’s a rich executive in Hollywood, and her mom died when she was 13. I’m not sure what her superpower should be… but I’m sure of something, Wy’s definitely a christian.

  • mikah on April 8th, 2013 - 8:44am

    @ LIAD
New York sounds awesome! If her mom died when she was thirteen how old is she now?

Camilla just moved to New York a few weeks ago. She used to live in North Carolina so is not very used to the city. You would normally see Camilla in jeans and a tee shirt. Her parents are divorced and she lives with her dad. Camilla’s other sister stayed with her mom in North Carolina. And last but not least Camilla is a christian as well.

  • MIKAH on April 9th, 2013 - 9:42am

    @ LIAD
My last post did not post:(
New York sounds good! If her mom died when she was thirteen how old is she now?

Camilla just moved to New York from North carolina so she is not used to the city. Her parents are divorced and she went with her dad. Her mom stayed in North Carolina with her older sister that is fifteen. Like your character I am sure of the same thing! They share their faith in Jesus Christ. If Camilla had the choice she would have stayed in NC,for Camilla is a country girl.

  • liad on April 9th, 2013 - 6:10pm

@ Mikah~ Wyoming is 15, so the loss of her mother is still very real in her life.

Maybe the superpowers come around by a governmental experiment at a secret complex. Maybe it can also be in the area Camilla moves to? Because maybe Wyoming can be on vacation there… then the secret complex explodes… giving everyone in a 100-mile radius strange powers? And then, the government forces these said people to live in an enclosed area. Something like that. Any Ideas?

  • mikah on April 10th, 2013 - 8:33am

    @ LIAD
Sounds good! What if they were of some sort of tour when it happened? Like maybe a museum or something?

  • liad on April 10th, 2013 - 5:17pm

@ Mikah~ Yeah! Good idea… everyone on that tour is contaminated. The government immediately forces them into hiding at a secret location as they desperately try to find a cure. But then some sneaky people decide that they like themselves as is, so they jail brake. As a result, everyone escapes, with governmental agents close at their heels. Neither Camilla nor Wyoming can go back to their families for fear of putting them in danger. (cont.>)

    That’s awesome! I can’t wait to start!

  • liad on April 11th, 2013 - 4:07pm

@ Mikah~ Okay. So, I was thinking, who knows Wyoming better than I do? And who knows Camila better than you do? How about, when I write a piece, I write it in Wy’s first-person and when you write it, you write it in Camilla’s first-person? Like, so their stories can be apart at some points and yet together in others.

  • MIKAH on April 12th, 2013 - 12:12pm

    @ LIAD
That sounds great! I like the way you think:) So we have a person, place and a plot now all we need is the beginning. Shall we start?

  • MiSTY/Gwenne on April 13th, 2013 - 7:11am

    @MIKAH

    Yup.

  • liad on April 15th, 2013 - 2:55pm

Okay, I’ve worked on a beginning for Wyoming over the weekend. A “chapter 1″ or introduction of sorts. It explains how Wy gets to New York. Here goes something:
    { }= Italics

My eyes flicker open, and I smell something nice. My face feels stiff and I have a slight headache. {Ugh. What time is it?} I prop myself up on a stiff arm to look at the clock. 10:26, it reads. Time to get up.
I push back the covers with my feet and then slide over the side of the bed. (cont>)

  • liad on April 15th, 2013 - 5:30pm

I smell the delicious aroma again, the aroma of fresh waffles, and remember it’s Saturday. Not just any Saturday. The Saturday {after} the last day of school!
Thoughts of summer and sunshine and ice cream send me flying across my room and cause me to throw open the closet door with a wicked grin. I pull on some shorts and a t-shirt in record speed, then bounce over to the windows to bring up the shades. No school, no homework, no teachers announcing that I have to stay in at lunch.

  • liad on April 15th, 2013 - 5:36pm

It {almost} can’t get any better than this. If it wasn’t for my lack of a mother, broken ice cream maker, and Marie, it would be the picture-perfect vacation. Who’s Marie, you ask? Oh, you’ll find out sooner or later.Down at the breakfast table. Which is where I’m headed.
First I stop by the bathroom to freshen up. My hair looks like a bush but I just pull it into a tight ponytail. I rub my face with a damp towel, then jog down the stairs, and straight into the kitchen.

  • liad on April 15th, 2013 - 5:42pm

Our cook, Alicia Kelly, is placing a chocolate-chip waffle on a plate. Yeah, my family has a cook. Which probably tells you that we’re a foot more than well off.
“For me?” I ask as I approach.
“Who else?” Alicia answers with a smile. “Marie has seemingly gone on a chocolate diet overnight, and you know how much your father and Brooke dislike it.”
“You’d think she’d stop at 100 pounds.” I say, referring to Marie’s new diet.
As always, I help Alicia bring the food and drinks into the dining room-

  • liad on April 15th, 2013 - 5:49pm

-and am greeted by my dad.
“Good morning,” He says, looking up from the latest issue of the Los Angeles Times. “Sleep well?” he asks.
“Yeah.” I say while sliding a hot plate in front of him. I go back in the kitchen and bring out Brooke’s food. As always, she insists on getting up to hug me hello. I am {not} the huggy type, especially not with her, but I return it politely anyways. I mean, she is my stepmother, after all. And being anything but polite will only earn me a sharp look from my dad.

  • liad on April 15th, 2013 - 5:55pm

Next I bring out my own breakfast. I so do not want to be the one to bring out Marie’s. Last time I did, she “accidentally” drooped her cupful of orange juice all over my favorite jeans as I handed it to her. You would’ve thought she’d make an effort to be polite too. But since it’s Marie, it apparently goes against her prep-snob laws or something.
To my great relief I see that Alicia has already served her, not that she noticed. At the moment, Marie’s completely engrossed with texting-

  • liad on April 15th, 2013 - 6:01pm

-on her iPhone. The iPhone that {my} dad gave her for christmas. Not that I’m jealous.
“Let’s say grace.” My dad extends a hand to both Brooke and I. Brooke makes Marie put her iPhone away.
“Dear Lord,” he says.”Thank you for this meal, these delicious waffles we can’t wait to dig into. Thank you for your provisions and for your grace. Amen”
Delicious waffles indeed. Very chocolatey. I eat those and some banana slices and then take a swig of orange juice. Then I hear my dad mention Winona.

  • liad on April 15th, 2013 - 6:09pm

My sister. I wasn’t listening in the first place, but now I am.
“- to New York. And she said that Wyoming can go with her.” He proclaims, turning to me. I nearly sputter out my mouthful of juice. {Me?} Go somewhere with {Winona}? The last time I went somewhere with Winona was eight years ago. And that was waaaay before she became editor of the Wall Street Journal. Why would she…?

Well, that’s one part. Long, huh? Now it’s your turn with Camilla! On to you, Mikah!

    @ LIAD
I heard the city noises and almost thought it was a horse galloping but to my complete dismay realized in my sleepy state that we were not in my lovely bedroom in North Carolina. I was with my dad in New York City and that was the last place I wanted to be. The only good thing was I did not have to start in my new school right away, for it is summer. I have never been to a real school in my life although my mom is very much like a teacher. Oh,how I envy Beth. She is my sister and is safely

  • mikah on April 16th, 2013 - 9:52am

With my mom. Why did she get to stay with everything she knows and I am the one who had to leave all my comforts? I rolled out of bed knowing it was time for me to get up. I went to my dresser and put on a navy blue v-neck and grey jeans after I got dressed i went to my mirror that was in my room and brushed my long red hair. Instead of puting it in a nice style I just threw it to the side and braided it like always. All of this took me about five minutes and soon I was out of my room and in

The kitchen of my dad’s small apartment. The only thing in that kitchen that was suitable for breakfast was a bagel left over from the ones my dad bought for us the day before. I quickly ate and then walked outside. I was desperate to see my grass when I stepped out but all I got were cars and concrete. I ran hoping to get just a glimpse of the country but on this day there was not even a breeze for my yearning hair to feel. I felt nothing and went back inside. My dad was already at work so I

was alone. “There is nothig to do.” I thought “Not even my sister to make me laugh.” I was bored and the only thing that would cheer me up would be my home. For goodness sakes my dad did not even have a house! I knew this day would come when I would have to choose which parent to go with but it came to fast. Beth knew it was coming to and always did. I remember at night when me and Beth were little we would curl up in the same bed and hear my mom and dad fighting. I would ask Beth why and she

I hope this was not too long. Take away Wy!

  • liad on April 16th, 2013 - 4:03pm

    @ Mikah~

“Is that, uh, right?” My voice comes out squeaky and awkward.
“Yes,” Says dad. “She called last night while you were sleeping. She’s taking the ten ‘o’ clock plane tonight.”
” The plane to… where, again?” Asks I.
“Here, duh.” Marie cuts in, giving a toss of her perfectly curled blonde hair. “Where did you think, Disneyland?”
I turn to look at the girl. “Yeah, Marie, Disneyland. That’s exactly what I thought.” A sarcastic slur creeps into my voice.

  • liad on April 16th, 2013 - 4:20pm

“Anyways, she’s only coming to meet Brooke and Marie.” Dad pauses. “And to ask if you girls would like to return to New York with her.”
“Wait a second.” I frown. “‘You girls’?”
“Yes. You and Marie. Hard to turn down, eh?”
“Uh, uh, yeah! Um…” I paste a smile on my pale face even though I’m actually dying inside.
“Well, how nice!” Brooke chimes in, her country accent strong as ever. “I’m sure y’all will have a fine time.”
Yeah. A fine time. {Why} does Marie have to go?

  • liad on April 16th, 2013 - 4:36pm

She doesn’t even know Winona. Oh, well, there’s no changing things now. I bet dad already bought her ticket anyways.
After breakfast dad sends me upstairs to pack my things. I pull out my gunmetal Rimowa suitcase from the back of the hall closet. I’ve made up my mind to take as least clothes as possible. That way I’ll have even more space to stuff books and such in there.
Four pairs of pants, five shirts, and of course, undergarments. Toiletries.

  • liad on April 16th, 2013 - 5:02pm

Lord of the Rings. Binoculars. Swiss army knife(no, this is not my carry-on). And of course, my life survival guide. Otherwise known as the Bible.
By the time I’ve finished I’m not in the mood to do any more packing so I decide to prepare my carry-on handbag the day before the flight.
Unfortunately the moment I go downstairs dad and Brooke announce that we’re having a movie marathon, a la Marie.

  • liad on April 16th, 2013 - 5:09pm

So we all go into the movie room to watch one of the new romance flicks. I can’t stand those lovey-dovey movies. So while dad, Brooke, and Marie sit in the front, I curl up way in the back to secretly watch Wreck-It-Ralph on my iPod and eat a bag of Twizzlers. Haha, oh the fun I have.

    On to you, Mikah!!!

  • mikah on April 18th, 2013 - 8:39am

  • MIKAH on April 22nd, 2013 - 2:47pm

    @ LIAD
I am not sure why but my other part still has not posted!
    Sorry.

  • liad on April 22nd, 2013 - 3:06pm

@ Mikah~ Okay, well, here’s my part in advance:

I’m hanging out in the living room, eating chocolate-chip cookies and watching old I Love Lucy reruns when Winona arrives. Big leather suitcase and all.
My dad immediately emerges from his office to welcome his daughter. His beautiful, successful daughter. Listening to me talk like this, you might think I’ve built up some resentment over the years. And you wouldn’t be totally wrong.

  • liad on April 22nd, 2013 - 3:14pm

Dad loves me just as much as he loves Winona, but sometimes I wonder. I wonder if to him, maybe I’m just the girl at home. Or Winona’s sister. Or the extra W. Whatever.
“Hey, girlie, you’ve gotten taller!” She exclaims after she hugs me.
“Well, you haven’t.” I say without thinking. Both dad and Winnie laugh out loud. Yep, that’s my version of stand-up comedy for ya.
Then Brooke and Marie come in (they were lounging near the pool)and it’s just a flurry of introductions and formalities from there.

@LIAD & MIKAH – Wow. I know they are not finished yet, but those stories or that story are really good. Please do not stop be cause of me being here. You both are really great writers. I’m awful at writing. Are Camilla and Wy going to meet up in NY? You don’t have to answer back, I’m just wunderin’
Mikah, this is just a suggestion, if you save your part of the story to Word or Pages or something and it doesn’t post you still have it and you can post it again.
Again, don’t stop because of me.

@ Melerandil~ Seriously? Thank you! Like, so much. No one’s ever said anything like that about something I’ve written. Besides my parents, I mean. And yeah, Camilla and Wy are going to collide in NY. ‘Cause that’s where something HAPPENS! You can read the previous comments to learn more…

@ Mikah~ Ugh! The latest part of my story did not post.
Plus, Nudge is now my 2nd persona. Nudge and LIAD. Yep.

    Here’s the rest:

Finally dad goes to take Winona’s luggage to her room, while she and Brooke walk off discussing the finer points of first-class air travel. Marie goes back outside, no doubt to continue reading one of her travel mags, which feature places nobody really cares about ’til they hit it big or what.

Me, I go down to the gym for a good ol’ fashioned run. I’m a horrible runner, the worst in my gym class, maybe my grade. No one has to worry about getting picked last for the team with me around, let’s keep it at that. But that doesn’t mean I hate the sport.

I’ve gotta go, but I hope your comments start posting, Mikah! Catch ya later!

    @ LIAD
My posts still have not posted and I tried it again! If it does not post can we move the story where it will?

  • nudge on April 23rd, 2013 - 4:30pm

@ Mikah~ Wait, no. This is a long shot, but maybe you should re-check your writing? ‘Cause the mods won’t post anything even slightly…. well, outlandish, perhaps? Or inappropriate. It’s happening to me too. Whenever I mention the name of my favorite book series, it never gets through. My new name Nudge hasn’t gotten through when I sign off, and it’s from those books. I just don’t get it. There’s nothing inappropriate about it.

Here, I’m going to sign off:

    @Nudge & Mikah- I really mean it.
Well, I was just going through the old podcasts and blogs and found this page, so I won’t interrupt any more. Though I might check back every so often to hear the rest of the story… Keep it up! It looks like the makings of a great story. Oh, one last thing, really:) Is there going to be a theme or a moral? All my English books and teachers say there needs to be a theme the author(s) should get across. Just a(nother) suggestion!
    Soli Deo Gloria,
    M.

    @ LIAD
I have gotten so used to calling you that. You will always be LIAD to me. Unless you want me to start calling you NUDGE. Anyway I can’t think of any inappropriate or even a bit not friendly things I put. I am getting mad though becasue they post yours and not mine. What’s the name of the book series I think I might have heard of it.

  • LIad on April 24th, 2013 - 10:47am

    @ Melerandil~ Yeah, you’re right, there should be a moral…

  • LIad on April 24th, 2013 - 10:55am

@ Mikah~ Whoa! See, on my yesterday post I signed off, but my name Nudge never showed! That is just weird…
Okay, I’m outta ideas when it comes to your posts. I mean, your ‘talk’ posts post, but not your story posts? How…? And yeah, you can still call me LIAD!!! The book series is Maximum Ride. Yeesh, I hope this posts.
