Great prize! Being an artist myself I really appreciated this. It was neat to see Gary Locke draw. Having been home schooled and being a self taught artist I rarely got to see other people draw, let alone a professional. Even less now that I have graduated. I really enjoy his style of artwork.

    Thanks for the great prize!

This was very cool! How does a “normal” kid learn how to do computer animation like that? Where do you get a stylus? I have a CoreFX program on my home computer and love to mess with it, but can’t seem to “draw” any original stuff! Thank you for showing this.

  • lu on July 19th, 2009 - 5:48pm

    WHY?

  • lu on July 19th, 2009 - 6:04pm

OK NEVER MIND ABOUT MY EARLIER COMMENT… IT IS SO COOL TO BE LIKE THE FIRST ONE TO POST! AIO ROCKS,BUT THE FIRST EPISODES ARE KINDA STRANGE. BY THE WAY DID YOU KNOW THAT THE FIRST CHARACTER THEY HAD PLAYING MR. WHITTAKER ALSO PLAYED OTIS ON THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW EARLIER ON? ALSO THERE ARE OTHER VOICE ACTORS THAT WERE ON MOVIES.LIKE BERNARD WALTON WHO WAS ON “I DREAM OF JEANIE.”
    WELL TTYL,
    LU

Next time kids, remember to use all lowercase passwords. You don’t want to make it too challenging for your parents. Now how about an ice cream sunday!

  • Charisse on July 21st, 2009 - 7:47am

The Eugene that Gary drew looked a lot like the Eugene in the wallpaper. Maybe it was; maybe not, but they do have similarities!

Hi! I am really interested in art and I was wondering if you could tell me what Gary was using to draw Eugene. Such as how expensive was it? What brand was it? Was it one of the best ones? Is it easy to use? ETC…I’m really into this kind of thing and would like to have one of these some day.

    Thank you sooo much AIO.

  • Laura Leigh on July 21st, 2009 - 11:48am

If anyone else can tell me PLEASE DO!!

Thanks so much for putting theses out! My family likes to listen once we finish our homeschooling for the day! I had a suggestion for when Eugen and Katrina have kids. Every Night my family (before my dad goes to work) Have a big squeeze or a ” circumferential compression of the upper extremity’s” every night we say that Eugine Katrina and family must someday have a big squeeze. Thanks for all that you do and God bless!

  • lu on July 22nd, 2009 - 1:17pm

I think some people were confused about being the first to blog… Maybe bcuz the other comments would not show up. I seriously thought I was the first but as u can c, I am obviously not.

  • lu on July 22nd, 2009 - 2:10pm

    T,
The actors that play Whit, Connie, Ed, Elaine, Tamika, and Marvin do not answer questions on the blog. Whoever was playing like they were Whit on this page was not actually the real character. It was someone obviously playing around. Hope this answers your qustion, T.

In case you were wondering you can get a drawing tablet (most likely not the same as Gary’s but nice anyway)– a medium sized one (about 11in.) for around $300, as well as a large,Extra Large..etc.

BTW…I just recieved the AIO Official Guide for my 13th Birthday yesterday and IT IS AWESOME!! THNX AIO!!

  • LL on July 22nd, 2009 - 3:46pm

T, I think it may because they aren’t real… lol… but… I have a lot of favorite books, Charisse… actually, I prefer book series to books that stand alone… so I like the Chronicles of Narnia, Kidsboro, LotR, etc. etc. etc. etc. and the list is about 5,000,000,000 pages long… I love reading… but… anyway… I have a question for you guys (and girls). Does anyone think that Focus on the Family should come out with Powerboy comics?

Oh, and I know so many things because I read almost every single piece of info on this website and try to remember it (plus I have the Official Guide.) P.S. Do I seem like a know-it-all?

What state are you from, if you mind me asking?

And all those who asked about “favorite books”..
I like pretty much anything historical fiction, and ANY American Civil War stuff. Nonfiction esp.
Anybody care for the Civil War like I?

Meanwhile, I have GOT to see this video everyone’s talkin’ about.

    Talk later,
    Luv
    The orig. L.K.

Homeschoolers can still tell many people about Jesus. We still go lots of places and do things that public schoolers do.

    Leah Kathryn,
I love the Civil War. It is by far my favorite war ever! Now I don’t like people killing each other, but the history is amazing! Sorry for shortening your name to LL. You have a beautiful name I would love to use it instead of writing just plain O LL.

  • janessa on July 28th, 2009 - 1:47pm

Hey Leah Kathryn! I live in Mexico.

  • Charisse on July 28th, 2009 - 6:14pm

I agree with Lindsey S. My favorite war is the American Civil as well! I LOVE to write! Actually, I’m thinking I’ll major in something to do with English! I’m home schooled as well. I live in TX so I guess that’s pretty southern. I do love AIO! I play piano, and some other stuff too.
    Charisse

  • janessa on July 28th, 2009 - 6:59pm

Hey Leah Kathryn! In answer to your questionaire.
    1. Yes, I am homeschooled
    2. Hmm, I actually live in Mexico. Is that the same as a southerner?
    3. Nope, although my Dad was born there.
    4. Yes, I enjoy Odyssey.
    5. Hardly, although I know a little bit.
    6. I do think that the Civil War time period was interesting.
    7. Not really, although I don’t need to go far to go there.
    8. Not really, although I do try to journal.
    9. I enjoy both fiction and non-fiction.
    Well, by!

  • clh737 on July 29th, 2009 - 10:49am

Laura Leigh: FINALLY another person who would buy them! and I like my username… lol… Charisse, I just like the numbers 737… not a flight number… It sort of appears a lot in the bible, like there were a lot of things that happened in 7 days… and a lot of things that happened in 3 days, like Jesus rising from the dead… sorry, I am not allowed to say how old I am… :-P…

  • lu on July 29th, 2009 - 2:35pm

    OJ,
Yeah, I’m homeschooled. No wonder u know so much. I don’t own that many Odyssey things, I just listen online, I listen to the stories I DO have, and I checkout books from my church library. Odyssey items are pretty expensive. I only bought 2 CD’s. And my sister has 4 CD’s. Also we have a tape. That’s all I can think of right now.
    Ttyl,
    Lu

  • Leah kathryn on July 29th, 2009 - 4:25pm

Janessa! (May I call thee Jan? :-))
It’s great to hear that you too are homeschooled! I love being homeschooled. I’ll never send my own kids to school, if I have any. (and I know I’d love to have a family..) About you living in Mexico, You actually are probably more south than us Floridians, so, I guess you have the right to say that your a southerner too?
    Do you know Spanish?
    Hasta Luego! lol.

I couldn’t agree with you more about the Civil War era..
    very very interesting.
    Luv,
    L.K.

  • janessa on July 30th, 2009 - 1:25pm

Yeah, you may call me Jan. But if it’s easier, my middle name starts with a J as well and so I could be JJ too. Si, hablo español. He vivido en Mexico por como cuatro años. What is your favorite subject in school? I really enjoy American history, but I like other subjects as well.

  • Leah kathryn on July 30th, 2009 - 2:02pm

Ok, JJ it is then! :-)
But, dearie, as fareth as ‘school’ goeth, we don’t really have ‘subjects’ like you wouldeth in school.
But of things I am supposed to do I liketh handwriting the bestest. ;-)
I love historical things even better! And you can guess what I like in that area even better than that!! :-) You most likely needeth not any hints, after all my chatter about it!
    I loveth to write, too..

    Luv,
    The Old fashioned L.K.

  • Lindsey S. on July 30th, 2009 - 7:30pm

    Charisse and Leah Kathryn,
We 3 have a lot in common! I live in TX, am home schooled, love the Civil War, play the piano, am crazy about AIO, love fiction and nonfiction books, and love to write. How old are you 2, how long have you been playing the piano, and Charisse where do you live in TX? (North, South, East, West, or Central). I’m 17, live in East TX, and have been playing the piano for almost 3 years now.
    Hope to hear from yall!

  • janessa on July 30th, 2009 - 8:35pm

Here is a question for you Leah Kathryn, as I think you like the Civil War period. What was the Union’s battle plan called? (p.s. it is the same name as a kind of snake)
    JJ

  • Charisse on August 1st, 2009 - 6:18am

Lindsey S. I’m 14 almost 15, and I’ve been playing piano for five years! I live in East/North, I guess that would be Northeast TX! Have you ever been to Nacodoges? Our family goes there on vacation a lot because my grandmother was born there.

  • Leah kathryn on August 1st, 2009 - 12:28pm

Linds! It does sound like we have quite a bit in common, doesn’t it?
I’ll give you a hint on my age. I’m between 12 and 20!
    Figure that out! ;-)
I’ve had three differant teachers now. Started playing at 8 years old, was getting lessons from her for like two years, quit for some time, and started back in with a new teacher a year ago. I have a LOT to do, as far as the music I’m playing right now.

    Luv,
    The Orig. L.K.

  • Leah kathryn on August 1st, 2009 - 12:48pm

JJ, the Union’s battle plan was called The Anaconda Plan and was a strategy to cut off the Confederate trade and supply routes.

Ok, here’s an easy one for you. Who was “in charge” of the Union Army before U.S. Grant?

    Luv,
    The Orig. L.K.

    What’s with everyone from Texas???

  • Original joe on August 3rd, 2009 - 7:16pm

Mercy, I think the reason why so many people are from Texas is because it’s such a big state. But what’s the deal with people playing the piano?

  • janelle on August 3rd, 2009 - 10:24pm

    Hey, I am homeschooled!

  • Charisse on August 4th, 2009 - 6:33am

    L.K. Are you, 13, or 14? I don’t know!
Julianna: That’s really cool! Do you have an Hungarian accent?
    Charisse

  • Lindsey S. on August 4th, 2009 - 12:39pm

    Leah Kathyrn,
Are you 13? I believe that you said your age in another blog.

    Original Joe,
The reason so many people play the piano is because it is a very popular and beautiful instrument. I get all giddy whenever I get near one and my fingers literally itch to push the keys. I love the piano!

  • Original joe on August 4th, 2009 - 2:12pm

Okay, I’m thinking about starting on the piano.

  • Charisse on August 4th, 2009 - 3:45pm

You’re right Lindsey S.! It takes me forever to get out of a music store! I always have to play them all! One of my favorite things about music is the way it can make you feel. It can snap you from one mood to the next in five seconds! :)
    Charisse

  • janessa on August 4th, 2009 - 4:06pm

Leah Kathryn, Do you mean General Joseph “Fighting Joe” Hooker? Didn’t the union army keep switching army generals? A question for you. The North called the first major battle First Bull Run. What did the South call it?
    JJ

  • Charisse on August 5th, 2009 - 7:33am

JJ, was it the battle at Appomattox Court House? My dad used to work in Georgia, so we got to go see all the famous Civil War battle fields, including Appomattox. We also went to Vicksburg! It was amazing! I love history, it’s one of my favorite subjects!
    Charisse

  • julianna on August 5th, 2009 - 10:48am

Yes i do have an accent. Our coutry is famous for the bottle Dance Its very hard to dance it.I am one eighth
chek one eighth german and the rest hungarian.Sey Boose thats bye in hungarian.

  • janessa on August 5th, 2009 - 12:27pm

Charisse, That wasn’t the name that I was thinking of, although I could be mistaken. I really enjoy history too, although I like American History more than World History. That is neat that you got to see some of those historic spots. P.S. Do you know the answer to Leah Kathryn’s question on August first? I wasn’t sure on that one.

  • Hadassah on August 5th, 2009 - 1:31pm

Yes the same coutry I am from Julianna.

  • Lindsey S. on August 5th, 2009 - 3:08pm

    Original Joe,
Go for it! And if not the piano, then another instrument. Just pick one that you really enjoy. No matter what instrument you choose, I know you’ll do great at it.:-)

  • Leah kathryn on August 5th, 2009 - 3:57pm

Joe: First of all, regarding why “so many people like it,” you either have it in you to play or you don’t. Simple as that. I know that I sure got it in me, and I like it that way. Piano’s wonderful.
And yes, JJ, Hooker was Union, but I’m not talking about him.. Are you stumped?
Now about your question. The Confederates called it the first battle of Manasses.
Now you tell me.. What was the most used headgear for both Confederate and Union soldiers?

    Luv,
    The Orig. L.K.

  • Charisse on August 6th, 2009 - 7:36am

Oh, JJ! I do know that one! The very first “leader” of the Union Army was Winfield Scott, next was George B. McClellan, then Henry W. Halleck, and Ulysses S. Grant.
    Charisse

  • Hadassah on August 6th, 2009 - 5:46pm

That Sirtenly looked like Eugene alright.Just not in color.Keep up the Awsome work.As Always *Hadassah*P.S Which Charecter would you guys like to Draw. For Me Connie!

  • Leah kathryn on August 8th, 2009 - 9:30pm

Hadassah, I can draw Jason, Eugene and Whit pretty well. Never tried anyone else.

    New question.
Why has no one answered my question about the most used headgear? Ahem, ahem, I am waiting. ;-)

    Luv,
    The orig. L.K.

  • Lindsey S. on August 10th, 2009 - 12:30pm

    Hadassah,
I would like Wooton’s face drawn, because no one knows what his face looks like and I would like to find out.

    Leah Kathryn,
    Was it a hat?

  • Original joe on August 11th, 2009 - 2:06pm

Lindsey S., part of Wooten’s face was drawn. Go to http://www.whitsend.org/vault/A000000677.cfm. There’s a small picture of him there.

  • Lindsey S. on August 11th, 2009 - 3:54pm

    Original Joe,
I guess I should of said that I would like ALL of Wooton’s face drawn. Thanks anyway!:-)

Hannah, if you want to remember how to spell “Odyssey” is listen to http://whitsendblog.org/2008/12/top-10-musical-countdown-extravaganza/ and you’ll hear a song called “O-D-Y-S-S-E-Y.”
