July 25: Sunday Morning Scramble – Secret Word #6

July 24th, 2009

Congratulations on entering this week’s secret word! Now, enjoy your prize: an episode from the Family Portraits series called A Different Kind of Peer Pressure!

Family Portraits was a thirteen-episode test “prequel” to Adventures in Odyssey that first introduced the small town of Odyssey, Whit’s End, and John Avery Whittaker himself. It aired on the Focus on the Family daily broadcast. The episode was the first to feature Earl Boen, who later became the voice of the Blackgaard brothers — Edwin and Regis.

Am I the first one to blog? It looks like it. At first I wasn’t able to listen to the episode “Sunday Morning Scramble,” but then I went to “Podcasts and Downloads,” went to “Older posts,” and went to the link “Family Media Center” under the picture of Tamika and Marvin.

That was pretty much “With a Little Help from My Friends”. Down to the outside vendors and everything. But it was good. I’ll remember this secret word. Hmm. . .

I Love Sunday Morning Scramble! It’s so my family (except for the snowflakes,) btw AIO you made a goof! When Ed gave the explanation for the snowflake incident he said it was someone else (his grandfather i think) who got distracted by a snowflake, BUT in the show sunday morning scramble tamika says “DAD, remember what happened when we made the snowflakes!?”

  • Gerry on July 26th, 2009 - 2:21pm

Another great show! Did this particular episode have a second half? I’d be interested to hear what his ideas on reconciliation were! The values of truth and positive relationships shine through each of your episodes so clearly. If I use myself as an example, I know you touch the hearts of a lot of people, both young and old(er) with your stories. God bless you Odyssey writers and performers, as you continue to serve HIM by drawing others to a healthy relationship with their creator and Lord

  • Molly on July 26th, 2009 - 2:39pm

NEW COMMENTS SHOULD BE POSTED AT THE TOP OF THE PAGE, INSTEAD OF HOW IT IS NOW: AS EACH NEW PERSON LEAVES A COMMENT, THEY GET PLACED AFTER THE LAST LATEST ONE, AND THIS CAUSES MAJOR SCROLLING TO READ THE LATEST COMMENTS IN A VERY SHORT TIME. ALSO THE SNOWFLAKE REASON WAS HORRIBLE. MARVIN EVEN SAYS IN THE BEGINNING SCENES OF THE EPISODE: ” REMEMBER WHEN YOU WERE MAKING THE SNOWFLAKES…” YOU!! NOT GRANDPA OR IT WAS WINTER… TOO BAD…

Some of their music is really pretty, but also they are many things I don’t like about them..

    Luv,
    L.K.

  • Leah kathryn on July 30th, 2009 - 5:18pm

This Family Portraits was pretty good, but I didn’t like how Blair and her dad were yelling at eachother. :-(

  • megan on August 1st, 2009 - 2:44pm

I liked the way it sounded. Very cute. But in the snowflake incodent Marvin said…”Remember when we were making snow flakes” That does sound like never cutting his kids hair.

  • Tim on August 1st, 2009 - 9:37pm

I think the father was right in how he handled the situation with Blair! If I would have talked like that to my dad I would have had it when I got home. Kids should be respectful of their parents no matter what “the group” says! Anyway I would have liked to hear how Rich would have reconciled with Jerry!

  • Emalie on August 3rd, 2009 - 5:09pm
